MAINTENANCE
Oils are used during the manufacturing process and may adhere to the aluminum and cause minor water runoff on newly-installed GutterLock Elite, Extreme Flow, and Diamond panels. This is normal and will discontinue after 30-60 days. Normal weathering will enhance the performance of these systems. Over time, dirt may build up around the horizontal edge of the systems. Annual cleaning using a garden hose with a sweeper nozzle or pressure hose nozzle will help maintain proper performance. The inside corners, valleys and heavy runoff areas with diverters will need to be cleaned regularly during peak times of the year when leaves are falling. In regions where excessive tree sap, hardwood tree tassels, and/or pine resin are prevalent, this front edge may require additional cleaning.
Alignment and spacing are critical for performance. Only allow a certified dealer to adjust or tamper with the system, and do not allow ladders to come in contact with the gutters or the GutterLock systems attached to the gutters. The performance of all GutterLock systems is reduced with the use of paints and waterproofing chemicals. Do not paint GutterLock Elite, Extreme Flow, or Diamond panels or components.
GutterLock gutter covers are designed to be closed systems. Water flows into the gutter at the pre-set gap along the gutter front for the Elite and Extreme Flow or the punched diamond shaped holes along the top of the Diamond panels, but birds and animals are prevented from entering and obstructing the flow of water. If gaps, spacing, misalignment, or missing end caps allow birds or animals to enter the system, contact your GutterLock Elite/Extreme Flow installer for service.
If your GutterLock panels are damaged by actions beyond your control (such as hail and other acts of nature), corrections should immediately be made to maintain peak performance. If accidental damage or misalignment does occur, contact your GutterLock installer for service.
GutterLock panels will not eliminate ice formation or icicles at your eaves. Ice formation is mostly caused by factors not related to your gutter system, such as poor insulation. In fact, you may see more ice (icicles) on the outside of the GutterLock systems because an open gutter tends to collect ice inside the gutter; however, GutterLock systems are engineered to discourage anything from entering the gutter except water. Therefore, it is normal to see some icicles on the outside of the GutterLock systems.
